The Model DC "Flexible, Direct Coupling" Torque Limiter are spring & detent clutches designed & factory set to transmit up to a pre-determined torque from the motor, over which, the driven side slips or stops while the driver side continues to rotate until the overload condition has been removed. The torque limiter will then automatically re-engage and continue to drive normally. This action prevents damage to the power transmission, machinery, and product as well as eliminating stalled motors which lead to burn outs and operation downtime. They are used to couple two shafts together allowing up to 6 degrees of angular and 1/32" of parallel misalignment. They are installed the same as any jaw type coupling, require no lubrication, and run in either direction. They offer a precise and repeatable breakaway torque setting and are not affected by heat, humidity, and the presence of oil. They are not readily re-set by careless machine operators. This product group is manufactured as bi-directional direct coupling torque limiters. |Flexible, Direct Coupling Torque Limiter designed with a 5" long x 1"OD input shaft to be mounted in a pllow block. It is designed with an internal stub shaft to mate with the output shaft bushed bore to provide full support and concentricity to the assembly. The 1" OD output drive shaft is 3" long with a 0.566 x 0.75 deep on end. It mounts in a pillow block and joins the .566 slotted pump shaft with a roll pin htrough the 0.75 deep bore. This unit is to have a pulley mounted on the input shaft and transmit up to 120 inch pounds of torque from a gas engine to a positive drive pump shaft for ITW.
