Spring & Detent Clutches


Spring & detent clutches are designed to transmit up to a pre-determined torque from the motor, over which, the driven side stops while the driver side slips until the overload condition has been removed. The clutch will then automatically re-engage and continue to drive. This prevents damage to the power transmission, machine, and product as well as stalled motors which lead to burn outs and operation downtime. They offer an accurate and repeatable breakaway torque setting and are not affected by heat, humidity, and the presence of oil. They are not readily re-set by careless machine operators. They are manufactured as bi-directional torque limiters for use as direct couplings or with a sprocket, gear or pulley on side drives.

Friction type torque limiters are used on side drives with sprockets, pulleys, timing belt pulleys, or gears and are dependent on the spring loaded non-asbestos clutch facings to drive. They are easily adjusted to prevent machine breakage, disengage at a predetermined torque and re-engage automatically as soon as the jam or overload is removed. They protect expensive machinery, minimize downtime, and provide OSHA mandated operator safety.

Centrifugal Clutches are used in applications where smooth acceleration and complete dis-engagement from the load are required. They provide "soft" starts for sensitive products through mechanical means to provide outstanding reliability at very low cost. They have been used extensively in conveying applications and well as gas powered equipment where complete dis-engagement of driven shafts are necessary to allow the engine to continue to idle.

Rigid Shaft Couplings


Model RC Rigid Couplings are 2-1/2" long x 1-7/8" round designed to join two shafts that are in paralell alignment via bored coupling halves. They are assembled radially over the shafts with 4 - 10-32 x 5/8" long socket caps screws. They provide secure holding strength for fractional horsepower rotating load applications. Installed in this manner, a gap can be left between the shafts to quickly change belts or install change gears. They are manufactured from 6061-T6 extruded aluminum bar providings superior strength and precision machined tolerances. They are delivered ready to install and run.

Our tensioning devices are used extensively where slipping at specific torque tension is required to control the process. From controlling the arbor on material payout of paper rolls, plastic bag material, or yarns for weaving and braiding to controlling over-rotation in high speed bottling applications, these devices can be customized to meet the specific demands of your application.

Through precision machined components mated to provide smooth, accurate torque limit controlled slipping, these units can be used in any application, whether mounted directly to an arbor or as a direct coupling between two shafts to side drives with sprockets or pulleys - we have the solution to meet your needs. They are easily adjusted by hex nuts or threaded housing to vary the spring pressure. They range in torque capacity from ounce inches to 100 foot pounds and are available for input and output shaft or bore sizes from 1/4" to 1-1/2" OD.

Process Control, Alarms, Data Collection and Feedback


We provide complete motion control protection through assured, mechanical torque limiting. To complete the control loop, we have developed a PLC with a microprocessor to monitor the drive train and optimize the entire process with data collection & predictive analytics eliminating downtime and increasing productivity. Through the use of optical and "hall effect" magnetic sensors mounted on the clutch, our system monitors the performance of the power transmission.
