Centrifugal Clutches are used in applications where smooth acceleration and completely dis-engaged load are required. They provide "soft" starts without start up shock for sensitive applications through mechanical means providing outstanding reliability at very low cost. Our unique, patented design transmits the torque from the motor through urethane rollers which ride on the faces of an internal hexagonal shaft. As the RPM increases, the friction shoes move radially to make contact with the clutch housing to engage & drive the load. During this process, the rollers "walk up" the inclined plane of the hex face and provide a "cam" assisted force on the shoes ensuring the load is driven without slipping. This is a very important difference from our competition because slipping at high friction and speed very quickly leads to over-heating and burn out of the clutch. As an added benefit, the urethane rollers provide super quiet operation with excellent wear characteristics. They have been used extensively in conveying applications and well as gas powered equipment where complete dis-engagement of driven shaft is necessary to allow the engine to continue to idle without driving the application. The product can be ordered with your choice of pulley or sprocket and your specified engagement speed. Advantages include: very strong, durable, and balanced construction due to the housing machined as one piece with pulley or sprocket, motor starts under no load, less current consumption on start ups, maximum torque gained from smaller motors, smooth acceleration without shock loads, fast & easy installation - ready to run. |Model CCS, centrifugal clutch with a chain drive, is designed with a 5/8" bore, 3450 RPM engagement speed, and a 40B12 Sprocket is ready to install and run.
